Bubba Gum Shrimp Co.

Met up with a friend at Sunway Pyramid. Boy has it changed since the last time I was there.... then again, it has been ages since I was there ^^ So as usual the hardest question to answer is "What are we going to eat?" And we went to the directory board. Bubba Gum Shrimp Co. jumped out at me. Always see it at the Curve, and heard that it was not bad, but never tried. Since my friend was agreeable to trying we proceeded to find the restaurant... which we did after asking the information counter, going through the main mall then little alleys.

Initially we ordered the onion rings, scampi pasta and Alabama Mud Pie (which looked really really awesome). But we were too full after the appetizer and main course so we had to cancel the dessert =( Still, the food was not bad.

The onion rings were great. Interesting presentation, rings with crispy coating and tender onions. The Chipotle sauce was nice, but the BBQ sauce was rather ordinary. The scampi pasta was well received by my friend, but I was not so impressed with it. It had capers with lemon and tomatoes on top of the shrimp. Not sure if they added some kind of cheese into the sauce besides Parmesan but the sourish taste (probably from the capers and lemon or the unidentified cheese) was not really appetizing to me. The garlic bread also tasted odd. Serving of scampi was reasonable though.

What was more fun about the place was the decorations!

Even the table top is interesting with the ping pong bat drinks menu, fishing bucket for holding tissue and sauce bottles and the metal plate for calling waiters (the blue "Run Forrest Run" sign)

If you need the waiter, just flip the blue plate to reveal this red plate! Probably the sound of the metal plates flipping would also catch their attention besides the bright red sign ^^

The best decorations for us was still the sign boards! If you cannot read the bottom right picture, it says "Instant human, just add coffee".

Generally, food is average, servings are reasonable, service is friendly (they ask how are you, though they don't really expect an answer.... when you answer they just go on with their own thing), ambiance is great, especially for friends whom you have not met in a long long time or first dates. Lots of conversational ice-breakers around (the decorations).
