Movie Maker Made Easy

A movie clip is a sure way to hype up you presentations and boost your points. After making dozens of movie clips using Windows Movie Maker, I found that the following steps in that order makes it life a lot easier.

1. Put in pictures/videos/titles in order that you want them to appear. This means everything that will appear in the storyboard view. Then cut and edit them until satisfied.
2. Add effects for videos. Effects such as double speed will change the lenght of time of the video hence should be done first
3. Add transitions for each video and modify how fast or slow you want the transitions to be
4. Add music. Here you should also check for original sounds from the movie clips and mute them if neccessary. Also you can edit the length of pictures/titles/transitions to match the music. Don't forget to add the fade in and fade out option so that the music will not be too abrupt.
5. Add subtitles. These should be added last because even though you change the video length, the subtitles will not move with it. I found this out when I made some changes to the start of the movie and all subtitles after that ran from where it was suppose to be showed.... annoying....
6. Add final touches. This would include the volume which can be changed by right-clicking the music/video sound bar. It would also be a good idea to watch the whole video once to check for mistakes. Better yet, find someone to look through because after watching it so many times, we might not be able to spot the errors
7. Save the video to computer.

Tips:

1. SAVE, SAVE, SAVE!!!! No matter how sophisticated the computer is, windows movie maker tends to hang, especially after 7 minutes of video.... so SAVE!!!
2. Have in your mind how you want the movie to turn out.... it would save a lot of time in editing....
3. YouTube has a lot of things that you can add to make your video more realistic such as countdowns.... to make it more interesting, you can cut and paste that countdown as many times as the counts and add slides in between to personalise them and get people thinking about your coming presentation (Sample below)

Happy the video for term project is completed (took about 7 hours to make the 9minutes, 9 seconds movie clip ^.^)
