The day started with trip members gathering at my house and having breakfast while I prepared lunch picnic. Then we head off to Putrajaya. The target was botanical garden for cycling but since the bicycles were unavailable due to an explore race, we moved to Putrajaya Wetlands.
This nature park is much smaller than the botanical garden but is good for people new to nature trips as the trail is shorter and the slope is not so steep (the ones in botanical garden was a killer.....) However, there are less things to see here. The park seems rather deserted (could be because we were there about 12pm)... the interesting parts would be the flamingo and mandarin duck ponds. We also saw Egyptian geese... but these were in small enclosures rather than open ponds. It was rather sad....
Something memorable from this would be when one of the guys tricked a girl (no need names right?) to believing that palm fruit as the botanical gardens was bananas.... ^.^ the best part was when at the wetlands, we saw actual banana plants and everyone took turns telling her that it's bananas...
After an hour, we returned the bicycles and had lunch at the reception area. Then we explored the area again on foot. Many things cannot be appreciated when on bike.... a person will have to walk slowly to be able to smell the roses.... The nature interpretation center was quite interesting even if it is quite small.... there was a building next to it which is also very beautiful but empty... we felt that that area (the center and the inner part of the wetlands) was not very well maintained...
From Putrajaya we moved on to Bagan Lalang, with detours to get more fluid for people and battery for my camera. My camera is an old film Minolta camera thus the battery is not so common. After stopping at a petrol station, 7/11 and alamanda shopping center, we gave up and went on to the beach. Ben joked (or half joked so he says because he wants my camera to work more than I did) that we could still get it in Bagan Lalang. On the way, we passed through small towns and there was a kodak shop. Just for the sake of trying, we stopped and he went to see if they have it... and lo behold! They do! My camera was so ancient that only ancient shops would have batteries for it =D
After an hour's journey from Putrajaya we finally caught sight of the beach, it was only a short stretch but it was lovely. The sand was fine, beach clean, and the air was sea-like (I find that some beach I visit do not have the ocean smell....) After settling our things and changing, we just had fun on the beach. Though me and another few thought to stay on the shore, one by one we went in anyway (some voluntarily, some by force)
Towards the evening, the cameras came out and the sun-set photography session started. Unfortunately it was not a very beautiful sunset on lens. Hopefully some of the photos of people, kites and skies come out well. I sort of went crazy taking the pictures, up to my waist in ocean water and flat on the beach to name a few....
After showering we went for dinner at one of the open restaurants near the beach. We had fish, lala, fried squid, vegetables, otak-otak with rice. A word of advice, do not order vegetables. Just stick to seafood and eat more vegetables when you get home, it is very pricey there. The food was average as was the price. Nothing memorable there.....
Overall it was quite a fun day trip. Better than spending it at a mall watching movie and just having a meal with friends...
